Team Vitality, a leading international esports club, today won the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025, held at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas. The Most Valuable Player (MVP) title was awarded to zywOo, who delivered remarkable performances throughout the competition and was the deciding player in the grand final against The MongolZ.
In just a few months, Team Vitality has built one of the most dominant teams in the history of the game, laying the foundations for a golden age for the organization and for French esports. Each tournament is a new demonstration of power, each victory another step forward in the CS2 legend.
UNDENIABLE THE BEST
The elite roster of Dan "apEX" Madesclaire, Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut, Shahar "flameZ" Shushan, William "mezii" Merriman and Robin "ropz" Kool once again demonstrated the extent of their talent by winning against the world's best teams throughout the tournament.
Although their exceptional 30-game winning streak was interrupted by Brazilian team Legacy in the group stage, the players quickly rebounded with poise and determination: a 13-6 victory over Nemiga, followed by a 13-2 show of strength against 3DMAX. A solid performance against Virtus.pro (2-0) then allowed them to secure their place in the playoffs. In the final phase, Team Vitality left no room for doubt. The roster won authoritatively against NAVI (2-0), then dominated MOUZ (2-1) in a thrilling semi-final, driven by an excited American crowd.
The Grand Final against The MongolZ was just as intense and memorable. This was Team Vitality's second appearance in a Major final, following the historic victory in Paris in 2023. By winning this latest title, the club enters a very select group: it becomes the fourth club in history to have won at least two Majors, alongside names such as Astralis, Fnatic, and NAVI.
“Two years after our first Major victory in Paris, we are incredibly proud to rediscover this immense joy with this golden team. This success crowns our historic start to the year, during which we have already won the biggest tournaments including the ESL Grand Slam. It was important to us to win this Major so that Team Vitality could join the greatest clubs in the history of CS. And it is now done. This team is the best in the world, and it is undeniable. We are in the Vitality era, and all the other teams live in it, ” declares Fabien “Neo” Devide, President and co-founder of Team Vitality.
“This new title is a demonstration of our ability to build a project of excellence over time, by combining vision, talent and execution. Winning a second Major in two years is not only a mark on the history of gaming, but also a strong signal to the entire industry: French esports has reached a level of maturity and global impact. We owe this success to the strength of the collective, to our players, to our staff, and to the trust of our partners who support us in this ambition. Together, we have reached a new milestone . ” explains Nicolas Maurer, CEO and co-founder of Team Vitality.
WELCOME TO THE VITALITY ERA ON COUNTER–STRIKE
Team Vitality claimed its seventh consecutive title of the year, extending a historic run and asserting its dominance at an iconic event (the first Major to host 32 teams). With a heightened level of competition and increased stakes, Austin stands out as a major chapter in Team Vitality's golden history.
Having been present since the creation of the Counter-Strike division in 2018, Dan "apEX" Madesclaire and Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut have secured their second Major victory here. An accomplishment that reinforces their status as iconic figures in French esports.
ZywOo also becomes the third player in history to win two Major MVP titles, and at just 24 years old, earns his 27th career MVP title. Meanwhile, apEX wins his third Major as an In-Game Leader, once again confirming his leadership skills and key role in the club's success.
Robin "ropz" Kool, whose recruitment earlier this year marked a turning point in the team's trajectory, won his second career Major. His decisive contribution has allowed this team to reach new heights. For William "mezii" Merriman and Shahar "flameZ" Shushan, this is their first Major title, the highest competitive distinction in Counter-Strike, and a fitting reward for their unwavering commitment and remarkable performance in the tournament's most decisive moments.
