Team Vitality, the leading esport team in France and Europe, is proud to have won the Rio 2023 IEMs on Sunday by beating Heroic (2-0) in the final. After qualifying directly in the Legends stage for the long-awaited Major in Paris earlier in April, the team went directly to Brazil. There, they showed their determination and strong mentality on several occasions in front of the Jeunesse Arena crowd.

The competition started badly, however, with a loss to OG in overtime 17-19, placing the team directly in the loser bracket. The road ahead was more difficult, but not unattainable. What followed was an incredible loser run to the playoffs with a 2-0 win against MIBR in front of their home crowd, 2-0 against the American FaZe Clan, and a 2-1 rematch against OG.

In the playoffs, the team put on a memorable show. First against BIG, winning 2 games hands down, then with a superhuman performance against the American team Cloud9. Trailing 10-0, the team recovered by offering their best CS and came back with a 2-1 win. A memorable performance that propels us to the final and shows us once again the mental strength of our roster.

Faced with a very strong team, the Danish Heroic had no choice but to lose 2-0. Team Vitality finishes these Rio 2023 IEMs in the lead and with a place in the pocket for the Cologne 2023 IEMs next August. A reassuring state of mind before the Major in Paris!
