Team Vitality, the leading esports team in France and Europe, is proud to have won the IEM Rio 2023 this Sunday by beating Heroic (2-0) in the final. After qualifying directly in Legends stage for the long-awaited Paris Major earlier in April, the team went straight to Brazil. There, they showed their determination and steely mentality several times in front of the Jeunesse Arena crowd.
The competition had started badly, with a defeat against OG in overtime 17-19, placing the team directly in the loser bracket. The path taken was more difficult, but not inaccessible. An incredible loser run followed until the playoffs with a 2-0 victory against MIBR in front of its home crowd, 2-0 against the Americans of FaZe Clan, and a 2-1 revenge against OG.
In the playoffs, the team put on a memorable show. First against BIG, winning 2 games hands down, then by putting on a superhuman performance against the American team Cloud9. Trailing 10-0, the team pulled itself together by offering its best CS and caught up with the score by winning 2-1. A memorable performance that propelled us to the final and demonstrated once again the mental strength of our roster.
Facing a supercharged team, the Danish team Heroic had no choice but to lose 2-0. Team Vitality finished these IEM Rio 2023 in the lead and with a place in their pocket for the IEM Cologne 2023 next August. A reassuring state of mind before the Paris Major!
